Is the pain sometimes so intense, that it is impossible to find a comfortable sleeping position. (TMJ) reacts from the joint where the mandible (the lower jaw) joins the temporal bone of the skull, immediately in front of the ear on each side of your head. A small disc of cartilage separates the bones, much like in the knee joint, so that the mandible may slide easily; each time you chew you move it. But you also move it every time you talk and each time you swallow (every three minutes or so). It is, therefore, one of the most frequently used of all joints of the body and one of the most complex. To accommodate such forces and to prevent too much wear and tear, the cartilage between the mandible and skull normally provides a smooth surface, over which the joint can freely slide with minimal friction. However, most people that suffer from TMJ pain is a result of displacement of the cartilage disc that causes pressure and stretching of the associated sensory nerves. If you habitually clench, grit, or grind your teeth, you increase the wear on the cartilage lining of the joint. Chewing gum, Stress, teeth that do not fit together properly (improper bite), malpositioned jaws, and arthritis, can also lead to TMJ pain. Some symptoms are: * Ear pain * Sore jaw muscles * Temple and cheek pain * Jaw popping and clicking * Locking of the Jaw …

i feel you brother, im 16 and cant sleep frequently because of head aches………also it is hard to support my head and have a proper posture because of dizziness
this frickin sucks… I’m in so much pain right now, I need a mouthguard for when I sleep
Aw, hell.
I’m only 16 and i’ve got it.
Dear tmj suffers as I was. Please do your homework. Research the LVI philosophy of treating tmj. It is the only scientific approach that is non-surgical.
Is this Tmj curable? Or is it permanent once you get it?
“You had it for 2 years, …….[youve] experiencED.”
You got it fixed? As in no clicking, pain lock or whatsoever like brand new? If you did, please tell me what you did. Mine has been going on for four years. I only had the pain for like 2 months and never i had the pain again. Just the clicking, the clicking never went away. Is it even possible to cure this?
same thing for me.
clicking drives me crazy
and sometimes i cant eat b/c it hurts too much to chew.
my orthodontist gave me a night guard but its done nothing. and im going to the dentist soon.
get well soon mate ive got it to its not good
I have TMJ and my jaw/neck get sore about 2-3 times a week, but my jaw clicks probably every time I open my mouth. Sometimes it drives me insane, I hate it.
mine dosent hurt just the clicking is annoying
I got it at the dentist office too, when I got my wisdom teeth removed. That was…six years ago? It’s slowly gotten worse and worse, although it’s only painful when I have to keep my mouth open for long periods, when I get my teeth cleaned.
i got this at my dentists office (how ironic) they put a clamp in my mouth so it forced my mouth open and i started gagging. when i left the office i had it :[. had it for 2 years its the most annoying fucking thing ive ever experienced.
note: Mouthguards dont work, they just supress it… im gonna try and see a chiropractor maybe that will work
it was strange because i ate a few harribo sweets and then my jaw just locked? WTF?
mine too
mine isnt painful my jaw just clicks
I’ve had this since I was 12. I’ll be 15, they say that you should not have something as bad as this at this age, however, it happens, and it sucks. Very painful, mine is in a bad stage.
I have the same thing, I got it in bitting off of a really hard cereal bar. This is like the most annoying in the world and i’ve had it for like 3 years now.
go to neuromuscular dentist dont!!!!
wear orthotic it will help you
go to neuromuscular dentist they will help you!!!
my dentist toldmei have slight TMJ. it sucks too cause i love singing but it hurts after a few minutes. Gah….jaws.
ive been getting headaches and i think this is why.
i have it on my right side as well. when i sleep on my right side i cant open my jaw fully unless i turn onto my left side and wiggle my jaw a bit until it pops into place. its so fucking annoying.
Well, I only have 1 of the symptoms.
I can open my mouth fully, but if I do that, there’ll be two pops. one from each side of my mandible. So I can’t open my mouth properly without there being a couple of pops. It sucks a lot but at least mine is painless.
Is there a remedy for this or am I stuck with this popping forever until I finally get a lockjaw?
